Sept. 18, 1994 - Aug. 14, 2002 When we started researching what breed to choose for a dog, we had no idea how much the decision would change our lives.
We flew down to Maryland to pick up Shammy. When we saw her, with her brother's and sister's we knew we had made the right choice.
She stole our hearts that first night!
Shammy showed us all of the best a Weim can offer a family. (And of course some of the worst). Always an extremely active puppy (typical of the breed), She kept us hopping. She opened our world to dog shows, field tests, retrieving tests, agility classes, obedience challenges and many new friends.
Shammy was a Canadian
and American Champion. She went Best In Specialty Show over top 10
Specials, out of the classes to be awarded her final major in the U.S.
She easily obtained her Field Dog Junior (CKC), Canine Good Citizen (AKC),
her Novice Retrieving Dog (WCA), Novice Shooting Dog (WAC), and Versatile (WACand
WCA) titles.
Although Shammy's show and field endeavors kept her very busy, she did find time to raise some very beautiful and talented babies. Shammy's legacy lives on in her Children, Grandchildren and now Great-Grandchildren. We are very proud of all of them!

NRD, CGC (Drake) Sept 2, 1995 - August 6, 2004 About 4 months after having Shammy, we knew we could never be a one Weim home. With the help of some dog friends we had made, we started the search for our next family member. This time we would research and use the knowledge we had so recently gained. When we found out that Polo and Cadey were having a repeat litter, we called Chris Grisell (Nani's) to see if she would let us have a boy. We eagerly awaited the arrival, hoping that there would be boys. There were 5 of them!
This time we flew to
Indiana, met Chris and Ted in person for the first time, and picked
up Drake. Being fairly novice still, this was a tough job. The
boys were all so nice! Crossing our fingers, we made our pick
and flew out with our new grey baby.
Drake grew up to be the comedian
of the family. He made an art of getting what he wants by playing
dumb. He was by far our best water retriever and an all around great
companion to both his Humans and his Dog family. Drake finished his American and Canadian Championships before the age of 2. He went on to obtain his Novice Retrieving Dog (WCA) and Canine Good Citizen (AKC).
Drake also had an opportunity to really put his acting skills to use. He had loads of fun playing all roles in a television commercial for the local Octoberfest Celebration. His mottos was "anything for a cookie"! Below are a few pics of his acting Debut.
